Tulips

While Shaazia was in hospital I made these lumen prints using the tulips from the bouquet I bought for her birthday. Tulips are so beautiful, gentle and delicate flower and are her favourite. I couldn't just put them in the bin so I dried them without knowing for sure what I would be using them for.

I had to kill time in between visits at the hospital so I don't let my anxious thoughts take over. In between tidying up or cooking for Sara and Shaazia, I was going in the garden an setting up the tulips, one by one, on top of some old Ilford 10x8 paper that I had in my little studio. The prints look different because I used different exposure times, also were made in different days.

The prints are not fixed as I wanted to preserve the colours, so I scanned them large as digital archives.

I will see where these will take me.

I did enjoy making them, as I was dealing with some very difficult moments in my life, I always found that engaging with making art helps with my mental health and it calms my anxiety and stress.
